I’m sure by now you are all well aware of tonight’s announcement concerning four new community cases of Covid 19 in Auckland. As a precaution, all areas outside of Auckland will be returning to Level 2 for the next three days from midday Wednesday. While this is a real shock, it is certainly not unexpected. We have been here before and by working together we can subdue this virus once again. At this stage the hope is the virus is confined to the greater Auckland area, but we all need to be vigilant and take the necessary measures to keep each other safe.
School is still open for all children in regional areas of NZ. The main source of protection for us all is sanitising and washing hands regularly. Fortunately we have a large amount of sanitiser in stock at school. If your child is unwell , please keep them home and seek medical advice.
At Level two we are encouraged to keep physical distancing of 2 metres from people you don’t know when out in public or in retail stores. Keep 1 metre physical distancing in controlled environments like workplaces, where practical. We know from experience that in a school setting physical distancing is extremely challenging.
School assembly on Friday will be postponed as no more than 100 people are permitted at gatherings.
There will be further information from the Ministry of Education over the coming days. I will keep you up to date with any further developments. In the meantime stay safe, stay positive and take care.
