Empowering Learners for Life
Kia ora and welcome to the HNPS website. It is a privilege to lead such a wonderful school in the heart of a vibrant community. Our school has a friendly environment, high expectations and staff encourage all students to aspire to meet our vision of “Empowering Learners for Life”.
Since the doors to Havelock North Primary opened in 1863, our school has had a history of passion and care for education. With a solid foundation of over 150 years, we are steeped in Hawke’s Bay history. Today Havelock North Primary is an innovative forward-thinking school, giving thousands of children the base from which to launch a quest for lifelong learning.
Our wonderful staff are fully engaged with professional development to ensure that the delivery of the curriculum is current. The Board of Trustees are very supportive and work hard to enable the staff to provide a stimulating learning environment. At HNPS we believe strongly in educating the “whole child”. Aside from the core learning areas, we offer a broad and rich curriculum.
Relationships are extremely important and all staff are encouraged to get to know the children and their families. By working together we can provide your child with a rich and varied learning programme.
You are most welcome to visit and experience the positive learning atmosphere our school has to offer. Please contact the school by phone (06) 877-8788 or firstname.lastname@example.org, Come along and see what goes on in our school!

We take our role seriously – after all, we are developing the future landscape of the nation, investing in the education of our children. We embrace change; we respect tradition.
